At HornImpex, based in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh — one of India’s leading hubs for horn and bone handicrafts — we believe every exquisite product begins with exceptional raw materials. As manufacturers, exporters, and artisans in the horn & bone industry, our commitment to quality starts from the source.
Horn and bone are not just materials; they are nature’s legacy. Horn is composed mainly of keratin, giving it flexibility and unique patterns, while bone offers solidity with its calcium phosphate structure. When sourced, processed, and selected carefully, these raw materials become the canvas upon which artisans create jewelry, buttons, combs, inlays, home décor, cutlery, and more.
Because they are natural and non‑synthetic, every piece of horn or bone is slightly different — this natural variation is a strength, not a limitation. At HornImpex, we ensure that our raw materials are consistent in quality, ethically obtained, and fully traceable, offering our clients reliable, beautiful, and sustainable inputs.

We procure raw horn and bone as by-products from certified and licensed slaughterhouses. These materials are not harvested from animals solely for their horn or bone, but rather from sustainable, regulated agricultural systems.
Our sourcing practices adhere to local regulations in India and international import norms, ensuring we comply with environmental and animal welfare standards.
We maintain strong relationships with local suppliers around Sambhal and Uttar Pradesh, allowing us to monitor the supply chain closely and minimize waste.
Initial Cleaning & Sorting
Raw materials arrive in bulk and are cleaned of residual tissues, moisture, and contaminants. We sort by size, thickness, curvature, and defect level.
Drying & Stabilization
Materials are sun‑dried or kiln-dried under controlled humidity, removing moisture to prevent cracking or warping during later steps.
First Inspection
Each piece is visually inspected for cracks, discoloration, internal defects, and suitability for intended use (e.g. raw blanks, plates, sheets, beads).
Pre‑shaping (for Horn)
Horn is boiled to soften it, then flattened or pressed into sheets or blanks. This prepares it for further shaping or carving.
Cutting & Blanking (for Bone)
Bones are cut into usable blanks, slices, or rods. Bone may also be bleached or partially treated if required by client specifications.
Secondary Quality Check
After processing, pieces are re-checked for uniformity, strength, and aesthetic appeal before they enter manufacturing lines.
We define material grades (e.g. premium, standard, utility) so that clients know what they’ll receive in terms of appearance and durability.
Clients ordering large volumes or custom orders can specify grade, color, thickness, finish, or pattern.
Because HornImpex handles both raw material supply and finished products, we can optimize matching raw stock to specific product lines (buttons, inlays, handles, beads, decorative items).
Our warehouse in Sambhal maintains controlled temperature and humidity to keep raw materials stable.
Proper labeling and inventory rotation ensure first-in-first-out (FIFO) use, minimizing degradation.
We also maintain backup stock to ensure uninterrupted supply to clients.
